TUA was invited to be guest editors for a special edition of Asylum; Unitec’s Architecture and Design journal.
The Challenge
Working with the Unitec School of Architecture and Design, TUA helped to curate the publication of this first special edition.
The Solution
TUA developed the journal theme "Reimagining our Future Neighbourhoods", which invites readers to challenge typical conceptions of how we build our towns and cities in Aotearoa. Not only that, it encourages readers to embrace new philosophies, construction methods, and amenities.
The journal was published in 2023 and included new, diverse voices in the fields of architecture and urban design. A high quality physical and digital publication was produced, with TUA providing input in the design of the journal.
The Journey
Focusing on the theme "Reimagining our Future Neighbourhoods", TUA curated 14 articles from innovative academics and practitioners around Aotearoa.
This process involved an open submission to contribute, as well as reaching out to TUA's vast network of exemplary people working in these spaces, who's voices TUA wished to amplify. Providing feedback to authors and collaborating on edits, TUA also managed the submission and peer review processes.
