Over May, we’ve been exploring a core idea in strategic research: how to generate predictive evidence that de‑risks the future of precinct delivery.Across the month, one idea has anchored the conversation. Good urban research moves beyond describing the past; it is predictive, systems‑integrated, and decision‑direct — evidence that enables governments, institutions and landowners to act with confidence under uncertainty.

The second report from The New Zealand Housing Survey is out today. This public data release draws on the experiences of 5,232 New Zealanders, providing a robust national snapshot. Results can be explored by region, age, income, ethnicity, household type, tenure, and more. These detailed perspectives reveal not only what New Zealanders are saying, but also where pressure points lie — who is thriving, who is struggling, and which issues require urgent attention.
