For this project, TUA contributed to an engagement plan for development of a visioning framework for the redevelopment of the future campus.
Massey University Campus Engagement Plan Project Overview:
The Challenge:
Massey University needed to develop a comprehensive engagement plan for its campuses to foster stronger connections with students, staff, the wider community, and stakeholders. The challenge was to create a strategic approach that would effectively communicate the university's vision, gather valuable feedback, build relationships, and ensure campus developments and initiatives were aligned with the needs and aspirations of those who interact with the university. This required a nuanced understanding of diverse stakeholder groups and the development of tailored engagement strategies for each.
The Solution:
The Urban Advisory was engaged to support Massey University in developing its Campus Engagement Plan. TUA contributed by providing expertise in stakeholder analysis, community engagement methodologies, and strategic planning. We worked with the university to identify key stakeholder groups, define engagement objectives, and design a framework for ongoing communication and interaction.
TUA's approach focused on creating a practical and actionable plan that incorporated best practices in engagement, ensuring the university could effectively gather insights, build consensus, and foster a sense of shared ownership in campus development and the university's future. By supporting the development of a robust engagement strategy, TUA helped the client establish a foundation for more inclusive decision-making and stronger relationships, ultimately enhancing the university's connection with its community and contributing to a more vibrant campus environment.
The Journey:
TUA's deep understanding of the dynamics of large institutions and their interaction with diverse communities was crucial in helping Massey University navigate the complexities of engaging a broad range of stakeholders, from students and faculty to local residents and businesses. This allowed for the development of targeted and effective engagement strategies. TUA also provided specialised knowledge in designing and implementing various engagement tools and techniques, including workshops, surveys, and digital platforms, ensuring the plan was comprehensive and utilized appropriate methods for gathering feedback and fostering dialogue. The focus on the long-term impact of engagement meant TUA helped the university build capacity for ongoing relationship building and feedback integration, ensuring the engagement plan was not a one-off exercise but a sustainable framework for fostering a connected and responsive university community.
