Ngāti Rēhia needed a tool to assist them in their future projects. The tool would be used to help communicate their values and design principles to developers, and bridge the gap in understanding between the two parties.
The Solution
TUA developed a framework for Ngāti Rēhia, that effectively communicates everything that is important to them when it comes to their housing development. The Framework now exists to provide guidance on best-practice in Kāinga development; it is a practical resource, and can be used in every stage of a kāinga development project.
The Journey
TUA had worked on developing a specific framework for Ngāti Rēhia that applied directly to an active project. However, as Ngāti Rēhia looked to continue their mahi in this space, they needed a more general framework that could be used and applied to a wider range of projects.
Through understanding their values, needs, aspirations and requirements, TUA was able to make this widely applicable resource for Ngāti Rēhia to bridge the gap in communication between the Iwi and developers, house builders, designers and Councils.
