Supporting Ngāti Hāua in developing a strategic plan, to support their operations and communications.
The Challenge
Ngāti Hāua Iwi Trust sought a strategic plan for their transition from a pre-settlement entity to a post-settlement entity, across a time period of 3-5 years. The objectives of this plan were to operationalize their Pou Tikanga, and build organisational resilience, capability, proactivity and readiness; expanding the Trust focus beyond the settlement horizon.
The Solution
TUA brought together expertise in strategy, governance, communications, finance and accounting, Human Resources (Leap Consulting) and legal (Whāia Legal). The team co-created frameworks and updated documentation and systems that would help them achieve the objectives. A key piece of the work was a communications strategy for the Trust, to give them a framework to guide and support successful communications with staff, uri and other agencies they partner with.
The Journey
Through previous work with Ngāti Hāua Iwi Trust, TUA had developed strong relationships, mutual trust and an understanding of the distinct challenges and opportunities the Trust faces. This made this project a natural collaboration; working closely and iteratively with the Pou Ārahi, trustees and project partners to build their capability along the journey of developing a robust plan. Assisting Ngāti Hāua to have resilient, future-focused and safe operations for staff and those they work was important in supporting their future success, with their aspirations of housing and economic development.
