TUA supported the Greater Christchurch Partnership, in their development of their spatial planning process.
The Challenge
The partner organisations involved in the Greater Christchurch Partnership required support in building the scope of their spatial plan, and how it would be developed.
The Solution
TUA provided assistance to the project management team, communicating the work that had been complete to date and determining the scope and direction of the spatial plan. TUA outlined what was needed, in order to develop a way forward for delivering their spatial plan.
The Journey
Workshops and high levels of collaboration were required, for everyone to land on a plan that was palatable and affordable to the partner organisations. It also needed to be and achievable within their time frames, so this was also a priority for consideration.
Further support was provided to define the direction and core narrative regarding the distribution of growth between territorial authorities. Informative visual material was developed by TUA to support these groups in understanding the breadth of issues. These challenges included the need to understand what was most important to the region; how the spatial planning process could be used to identify regional priorities; and a clear direction for growth in the Canterbury region.
