An urban design review was provided to Kāinga Ora for a site in Whau Valley, Whangārei.
The Challenge
Kāinga Ora needed an urban design review for a proposed development in Whangārei. The proposed development comprised 14 dwellings within duplexes, and 3 terraced homes.
The Solution
TUA provided an urban design assessment that discussed; the key elements of the proposed development; how each element has been considered; and how elements individually and collectively would deliver an integrated, connected and resilient development.
The Journey
Via a contextual analysis, urban character analysis and a site analysis, TUA determined that the proposed development offered a thoughtful response to the evolving urban character in Whau Valley. TUA discovered that the development would integrate well into the established low-density residential surroundings, and would likely be in keeping with density changes to the neighbourhood over time, given the zoning.
