TUA provided an urban design review for a site in Whangārei.
The Challenge
A site in Whangarei has been designated as a future high growth area, and therefore was upgraded to be a medium density area. An urban design review was needed to assist Kāinga Ora in their resource application, which sought to redevelop the site by increasing its density from 12 detached low-density dwellings, into 32 dwellings in a mix of typologies.
The Solution
This urban design assessment discussed key elements of the proposed development, how each element had been considered, and how elements individually and collectively would deliver an integrated, connected and resilient development.
The Journey
TUA undertook a contextual analysis, urban character analysis and a site analysis, to determine a final review of the proposed development for Kāinga Ora.
