Supporting Kāinga Maha’s submission to the Ministry of Urban Development & Housing Affordable Housing Fund - Affordable Rental Pathway grant application.
Kāinga Maha needed to demonstrate and show there is a need for affordable rental housing in Bethlehem across different types of households.
TUA undertook a needs assessment to demonstrate why providing affordable rentals was necessary in this area. This included looked at included who is most vulnerable to high rental costs and how they could be best served at a range of rental price points.
We undertook a desktop analysis of a range of data points supplied by both the public and private sectors. The analysis was wide-ranging and included looking at socio-economic indicators and housing amongst Māori. We went beyond just housing supply/demand and rental figures and focussed on rental affordability for different types of typologies at different household income levels.
